My name is Sarah. I am 20 years old. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember caring about it. I have lost weight over the years with diet and exercise, but I always manage to gain it back. I was reading the Oprah magazine last night while getting a pedicure and there was an article about Judith Beck’s new book: The Beck Diet Solution. I was very encouraged by the woman’s article and decided to purchase the book and try it for myself. I just started reading it today. I found this website for blogs and thought that maybe having the encouragement from fellow dieters and being able to read other dieting stories might actually help motivate me this time. I am setting realistic goals for myself and trying to do this the right way. I am in need of someone to keep me accountable and I am definitely willing to do that for someone else!

Hi Sarah! I’m Southern Fried Fatty. I’m reading The Beck Diet Solution too. I’m 33 years old and have been dieting, losing, gaining for most of my life. You should be glad you have run across this book while you are so young. I am not finished yet, but I can already tell my attitude has changed towards food.
I am blogging about my weight loss and all of the mental exercises that Dr. Becks writes about in my blog. This is the first time I’ve ever blogged and I have been really suprised at how much support I have gotten from fellow bloggers and complete strangers.
I’m putting you on my blogroll so I’ll be sure and check in on you. Good Luck and I hope to hear from you soon! Visit my blog, hopefully you can find some motivation there.

Hey Sarah,
I also have a BDS blog! My mother and I are doing the BDS together on the same schedule but from a few hundred miles apart. Our reasons are also the same. While neither of us are terribly overweight, we’ve struggled with being uncomfortable with out weight for too long. So far the book has kept it’s promise and really changed the way I think about eating. I’m only on day 10, so not even in the strict diet phase yet, and I already am noticing major changes.
Blogging helps a lot too. I write down a food log on my blog so I’m accountable for what I cook and eat. It also helps me reflect on what I’ve been eating and doing for the past few days when I plan my eating and activities for the next few days.
Good luck and I hope you keep it up (although I know if you really use the book that won’t be much of a problem)!

Stick with Dr. Beck. Her method is proven and is well known in the psych world–her father pioneered the therapy.

Hi Sarah,
I’m now into Day 21 of “The Beck Diet Solution” and it truly is an amazing plan. I’ve been looking all of my life for a “thinking” plan like she has laid out for all of us and even in a short amount of time I can tell that THIS TIME it’s going to work FOR LIFE!
All the best!
Jay
